Grand Canyon

Inside the Papillon Helcopter, touring the Grand Canyon
While in the helicopter Pip (Leslie) advises Ian that his Canon camera capture software is corrupt and he has no way of transferring any photo's in his camera to his laptop until he reinstalls the software from the CD he's left behind in England (this last bit is unfortunately no joke - so no more pictures after today for at least another week!)

Ian lulls Leslie into false sense of security by adopting friendly, smiley tourist pose
We did a plane tour of the Canyon in the morning and a helicopter one in the afternoon. The helicopter tour is more expensive but worth the extra: better sound system, live commentary, better views and the helicopter gets much lower and closer to the canyon so that you are below the edge of the Norther plateau but above the Southern plateau. where the plane tour stays well above both plateaus.

It was in the helicopter that I first became suspicious of Pip's motives. She let slip that she was afraid of helicopters but had figured that if it went down, we'd both go down with it so something positive would emerge. My concerns increased when, on a tour of the book-shop at the Grand Canyon Park she purchased a copy of 'Over the Edge - Death in the Grand Canyon'. Clearly, I was going to have to make the first move!

A nearby sign gave me a clue as to what to do next (below left). I lulled Pip into a false sense of security by posing for a friendly, tourist photo before doing what had to be done (below). Muwaaaaa haaaaa haaa!
